MSI Claw A8 launched in Asia months ago, but there is still no US release

MSI Claw A8 with Ryzen Z2 available nearly everywhere but US

MSI’s Ryzen based Claw A8 handheld is now selling in parts of Europe and Asia, but it is still nowhere to be found at major retailers in North America. We check reports from our readers who are rightfully confused about this launch.

The Claw A8 with Ryzen Z2 has appeared at multiple European shops and select Asian outlets. These listings include full retail SKUs, not just placeholder product pages, so customers in those regions can already buy or preorder the device.

The Claw A8 is available for preorder from MSI Malaysia and Germany, both have handhelds in stock:

In the US, a search across Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg and Micro Center only returns Intel based Claw models and various A8 accessories. We could not find a single listing for the Claw A8 with Ryzen Z2 in stock, on preorder, or marked as “coming soon”.

This raises the question of whether MSI plans a later regional launch for North America or is limiting the Ryzen model to selected markets for now. It’s worth noting that MSI sent many review units to US media, but the question should be why even bother if no one can buy it there?

We have asked MSI for clarification on Claw A8 availability in North America. Meanwhile, gamers who want AMD Strix Point based systems can choose the Legion Go 2 or ASUS Xbox ROG Ally, both of which are available for preorder in the US but not necessarily in stock everywhere.
