GIGABYTE launches X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP for Ryzen X3D CPUs
GIGABYTE has introduced its new flagship AM5 motherboard, the X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP (what a long name!), a board built specifically around AMD Ryzen X3D processors and heavy DDR5 tuning. It supports Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series chips and ships with a 24+2+2 phase VRM rated at 110A, aimed at driving CPUs such as the Ryzen 9 9950X3D under sustained load (or maybe the upcoming X3D update?)
The headline feature is X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, an AI driven tuning system that adjusts frequency, power, and thermal behavior per chip. GIGABYTE claims up to 25%higher gaming performance and up to 14% better multitasking versus default settings, with a one click profile that targets Ryzen X3D parts in particular.

Memory support is another focus. The X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP is rated for DDR5 speeds above 9000 MT/s , with four DIMM slots and AMD EXPO support. GIGABYTE pairs this with the D5 Bionic Corsa auto overclocking feature and active DIMM cooling branded as DDR Wind Blade XTREME.
Cooling extends across the board. The CPU Thermal Matrix spreads heat away from the VRM and memory zones, while large finned heatsinks, dual direct touch heatpipes, and multiple M.2 Thermal Guard assemblies with a built in fan target PCIe Gen5 SSDs. GIGABYTE claims double-digit temperature drops for VRM, DDR, and M.2 slots under load compared to previous designs.

The AI TOP label marks this as GIGABYTE’s most feature heavy X870E model. Connectivity includes five M.2 slots with PCIe Gen5 support, a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot with reinforced “UD Slot X” metal shielding, dual 10 GbE LAN, Wi Fi 7 with a directional RGB antenna, and dual USB4 Type C ports plus front panel 65 W fast charge USB.
There is also a strong focus on ease of build. The board carries GIGABYTE’s full EZ DIY set, including magnetic M.2 EZ Match mounting, screwless M.2 EZ Latch and EZ Latch Click heatsinks, PCIe EZ Latch Plus Duo for quick GPU removal, WiFi EZ Plug, and an expanded EZ Debug Zone. DriverBIOS can bring a new system online over Wi Fi without a separate driver install, thanks to an integrated network driver stored in the 64 MB BIOS.

The most eye catching element is the 5-inch LCD Edge View panel along the edge of the board. It acts as a built in sensor screen for system stats, custom animations, or logos, and is physically larger than the display on the first iPhone. Combined with the metal backplate and PCB Thermal Plate, the X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP is clearly aimed at showcase builds, high end Ryzen X3D gaming systems, and local AI workloads running “on the desk” rather than in the cloud.
