ROG MATRIX RTX 5090 is so heavy that it needs special software to detect sagging

ASUS is introducing a new feature in the upcoming ROG MATRIX RTX 5090 GPU. Yesterday we reported on the first sightings of this model at retailers, seemingly coming to market at the end of this month. The card is going to be extremely expensive, which already says a lot given that ASUS ROG cards are among the most expensive models on the market. The ROG Matrix is a return to the flagship OC brand, and at least in this generation there is something to look forward to.
As a quick recap, ROG Matrix, just like the ROG Astral series, supports special features built into the GPU Tweak software. If you are not familiar with this tool, just think of it as MSI Afterburner but for ASUS cards. Just like Afterburner, this tool also supports GeForce and Radeon GPUs, which is already a great thing to mention. For RTX 50 series, or actually only some models, ASUS has added special new technologies that work with this software.
These features include: Power Detector+ ( detecting anomalies in power distribution in the 12V-2×6 power cable), Thermal Map (basically a board overview with temperature sensors), Mileage ( a data-collection tool) and something new called “ Level Sense ”.

The name speaks for itself. This technology will monitor card tilt and help ensure users can do something before the card starts to sag. ASUS has not mentioned how much the ROG Matrix weighs, but we can assume it will be quite heavy. No word on how this detection works, but we suspect that the MATRIX has a small 3-axis accelerometer, which should be enough to determine if the card has tilted.
ASUS has already released the new GPU-Tweak software (version III V2.0.4.5) which introduces this feature, here is the full changelog:
This update introduces the Level Sense feature for one graphics card and improves overall stability and usability. It enhances AMD GPU monitoring accuracy, refines fan control behavior, and resolves several interface and functionality issues, including system tray duplication, display inconsistencies, and configuration resets.
Patch Notes:
- Added: Introduced the Level Sense feature for the ROG Matrix Platinum GeForce RTX™ 5090 – ASUS Graphics Card 30th Anniversary Edition.
- Updated: Eliminated conversions of the Memory Clock value display for AMD graphics cards when transitioning between the Monitor and OSD sections, to ensure consistency.
- Fixed: Resolved an issue where the Fan 1 curve percentage was locked when in 0dB mode, preventing users from lowering it.
- Fixed: Addressed an issue where the Browse button in the Profile Export path selection was unresponsive.
- Fixed: Corrected a bug where two GPU Tweak III icons might appear in the system tray.
- Fixed: Improved translation accuracy for some item names in the Monitor section.
- Fixed: Adjusted UI width for the GPU selection dropdown under ultrawide display modes.
- Fixed: Increased the update speed of RPM data on the Thermal Map page.
- Fixed: Resolved a black screen issue that could occur when two AMD GPUs were detected and the user clicked a GPU Tweak III tip message box.
- Fixed: Addressed an issue where Settings information was reset after switching from dual GPUs to a single GPU and restarting both the system and GPU Tweak III.
ASUS has not confirmed whether other cards support Level Sense, but a quick check on ROG Astral 5090 product page shows that this feature is not listed. This either means it is not supported, or ASUS has not yet updated the page.
