Teamgroup NV5000 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD – Value Oriented 2 TB With Graphene Thermal Pad

While PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs are setting new storage performance benchmarks, the real-life and application benefits of getting those drives are still not worth the price you are paying for them. It's still very much an early adopter product for now and while we appreciate the speed-up, we would love to see the performance transition from synthetic benchmarks to actual use cases.

And you know what's still considered to be quite fast without breaking your wallet? The current-gen PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs. Gen 4 SSDs are now available at very affordable price rates and offer great performance. Keeping this in mind, Teamgroup has introduced its brand new NV series, which is aimed at value-oriented PC builds.

Today, I will be testing the . This is a mainstream Gen 4.0 SSD with a capacity of 2 TB which retails for $133.99 US right now.

The TeamGroup NV5000 is the latest addition to the NV series which is aimed at entry-level PC builders. For the NV5000, the company offers an entry-level solution based on Gen4 architecture. The TeamGroup NV5000 SSDs are based on the NVMe SSD form factor and feature 3D NAND flash, offering up to 2 TB of capacity.

The SSDs are based on the Realtek "RTS5772DL" controller, which is PCIe 4.0 compliant. The chip is based on TSMC's 20nm process node and. Being a cheaper alternative to faster Gen4 drives, the SSD comes without a DRAM cache & only features an onboard 32 MB HMB (Host Memory Buffer). It features 8 channels and flash rates of up to 1600 MT/s.

  • High-performance Entry-level PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD
  • Store Everything with 2TB Storage
  • Patented Graphene Cooling Technology for Stable Performances
  • Monitor SSD Health with S.M.A.R.T.
  • Recycled Packaging Materials: Better for the Planet
  • Comprehensive Protection with 3-year Warranty
  • Heat dissipating graphene label patents:
  • Taiwan utility patent (No.: M628748)
  • China utility patent (No.: CN 217135922 U)
  • Patented S.M.A.R.T. software
  • Taiwan invention patent (No.: I751753)

As for the performance aspects, the NV5000 2 TB SSD is rated at 5000 MB/s Read, 3000 MB/s Write, and an endurance of 640 TBW.

The TeamGroup NV5000 2 TB SSD comes in the same standard package. The package is colored white/blue and it features a picture of the SSD. The front lists the 2 TB capacity.

The back of the package lists some specifications of the SSD and some performance figures which we will get to in a bit.

The TeamGroup NV5000 SSD package includes a manual and the SSD itself which is protected under a clamshell plastic case.

This is the standard NVMe 1.4 form factor & measures 80x22x3.7mm while leveraging a Graphene heat pad for slightly better cooling than a standard sticker.

The SSD features the Realtek controller underneath the Graphene heat pad, along with four flash ICs.

Our test platform for this review consisted of an Intel Core i9-13900K processor which ran at stock clocks on the MSI Z790 ACE motherboard. The platform was coupled with 32 GB of DDR5 memory from G.Skill (Trident Z5/ 16 GB x 2) and the MSI MEG Ai1300P PSU. For graphics, I used the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X. This rounds up as a high-end platform for tests with modern-day SSDs.

Wccftech SSD Test Setup (2025):

AS SSD Benchmark download is a Windows 10 utility software program that tests the performance of solid-state drives. With its help, you can find out the speed of all installed SSDs and take care of any issues that the tests may reveal. The free app performs three separate tests to provide you with conclusive evidence of your driver's general behavior while it copies, reads, and writes data.  The app determines the access time of an SSD, along with its speed and performance capabilities

Conclusion - Entry-Level & That's About It

While SSDs are getting fast in the enthusiast space, the mainstream segment is where most of the action is. Companies are bringing some great value and the space that was previously dominated by 1 TB drives is now being taken up by 2 TB drives which are approaching the sub-$100 US mark.

Teamgroup's NV series are designed around the entry-level segment, and costs $133.99 US. This is a very saturated price segment where we can find several 2 TB Gen4 SSDs in the $110-$150 US price range. The NV5000 does offer decent enough performance which will be a nice upgrade over an aging SATA or Gen3 SSD but that's about it. The Realtek controller does have lower power input and runs cool so you won't have to worry about putting a heatsink on this storage solution. I'd fully recommend this SSD if its priced around $120 US, since you can find 7 GB/s Gen4 SSDs around $135-$140 US.
