ZEPHYR again teases Radeon Vega VII inspired high-end GPU with hidden power connector design

Zephyr closer to launching its VEGA-inspired modern GPU

Still no word if that’s Radeon or GeForce.

Back in July , Zephyr shared the first image of its upcoming “flagship” graphics card using a die-cast, CNC milled alloy shroud. The card clearly takes inspiration from the Radeon VII series , a special Vega 20 based model released 6 years ago (hard to believe it has been that long already).

The card did not make much of a challenge for the GeForce series, but it was AMD’s first attempt to offer something high-end at $699, which today would be closer to a mid-range class card.

Zephyr’s new card is most likely based on GeForce . The company has not released any Radeon 7000 or 9000 cards so far (the last was the RX 6000 series), so that would make sense. It already has an RTX 5080 model, so this is probably based on that card or the RTX 5090. The card is 2 slots thick, so if I were to guess, it is an RTX 5080.

What I find interesting is that the card has no visible power connectors, so I assume it uses a hidden power connector design. Here’s the previous teaser image which also didn’t show any:

Zephyr is not an official NVIDIA board partner. It is a semi-custom brand, which means it buys boards and coolers from larger GPU makers like Palit. This is probably why the packaging for its GPUs does not follow official guidelines and why we are not seeing any GeForce or Radeon logo on the side of the card (this is required by both companies).

The closest design we have seen so far is probably from Lenovo Legion GPUs. They are sold in limited quantities through prebuilt PCs in China, but they look just as sleek.

Interestingly, the teaser image was hidden in the company’s gallery without any description, so we do not have any further details. It has been four months since the first teaser and there is still no new information.
