French media outlet Frandroid was invited to AYANEO headquarters in China, where the CEO of the company Arthur Zhang presented the upcoming flagship gaming console known as NEXT II (or Next 2). This is one of the largest handhelds this brand has ever released.

Officially there are no dimensions or weight for this system yet, but a quick glance shows that it will be at least as large, if not larger, than KUN , the former flagship model from two years ago which was powered by the Ryzen 7 7840U.

To give you some size comparison, I looked up an older video from AYANEO where they first presented the KUN system. These are also the same hands, mind you. One thing that has obviously changed is the screen size (AYANEO has not confirmed the exact diameter), but the bezel is clearly much narrower.

During the Frandroid showcase the system was not turned on, so we cannot even make a proper comparison or assumption, but it is safe to assume it is at least 8 to 9 inches in size.

NotebookCheck speculates that since KUN weighed 900 g, the battery-powered NEXT 2 will almost certainly weigh just as much. I held KUN and I can already tell it is too heavy for normal use, so the added support to keep the system on a desk was a nice addition. Unfortunately, the successor does not appear to have this feature.

AYANEO has not yet confirmed when the NEXT 2 will be released. I’m quite sure we won’t see it launching until next year, but the crowdfunding may start this year.
