Backbone Launches Pro Xbox Edition Mobile Controller

Backbone has launched the Backbone Pro Xbox Edition, a next-generation controller redesigned from the ground up for gaming across phones, PCs, tablets, smart TVs, and even VR headsets. The Pro model features dual connection modes: a low-latency USB-C wired mode for handheld play and a Bluetooth Low Energy wireless mode offering up to 40 hours of battery life. Weighing just 199 g, it comes with full-size ALPS thumbsticks, Hall Effect triggers, two rear buttons, and laser-etched grips for better control and comfort. The controller works with the Backbone App, which brings together Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox Remote Play, Apple Arcade, Steam Link, PlayStation Remote Play, and other controller-compatible titles. The new FlowState feature lets players switch between devices (phone, PC, and TV) without re-pairing.

Compared to the Backbone One , released earlier this year, the Pro adds wireless connectivity, customizable inputs, and a more ergonomic design. Backbone says the Pro controller design went through over 9,000 part iterations and 30 user research studies, using a 3D camera system to track hand movements and analyze thousands of hours of gameplay to fine-tune comfort and control. Each unit includes one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, giving instant access to cloud titles like Forza Horizon 5 and Minecraft. The Backbone Pro Xbox Edition is available now for $179.99 USD from Backbone.com, Xbox.com, and Amazon, with Best Buy availability in the US starting November 30.
