Redditor builds stealth Mini-ITX Radeon RX 9070 XT build hides inside TV cabinet

Mini-ITX Radeon RX 9070 XT build lives inside TV cabinet

One PC enthusiasts decided that a classic PC case takes up too much space in the living room. Instead, they built a full gaming system directly into a closed TV cabinet, turning one of the compartments into a hidden mini-ITX rig.

The system uses a mini-ITX motherboard, a 240 mm liquid cooler mounted inside the furniture, and a SAPPHIRE RX 9070 XT PURE. The GPU is positioned behind custom cut-outs in the bottom panel so its fans can still pull in air, even though the doors stay shut. It is a neat way to keep the setup “console-like”, but also hides one of the cleanest looking white cards on the market where no one can see it.

As usual with this type of build, the first reactions focus on airflow and safety. A gaming GPU and a 240 mm radiator dumping heat into a closed wooden box is probably not a good idea, no matter how good the fans are. The owner responded with a 3DMark screenshot that shows the system completing a run without thermal throttling, so at least under short benchmarks the hardware seems comfortable.

We would still not recommend building a PC into a sealed cabinet like this. Closed wooden furniture can trap heat and dust, and in a worst case can become a fire risk if something fails. If someone insists on a hidden build, the minimum should be generous ventilation, a smoke and temperature sensor inside the compartment, and a clear path for the system to exhaust hot air out of the furniture, not just move it around inside.

The post appeared on the ASRock subreddit, where the builder asked if this was a good way to hide the motherboard from everyone.
