ASRock mentions “FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.1” for RX 9070 XT: new AMD feature or simple typo?

Is AMD preparing FSR 4.1?

ASRock either knows about AMD’s plans or did not check whether such an FSR version even exists.

First, let’s start with the most obvious question: does FSR 4.1 exist? Technically, the latest version is 4.0.2. AMD recently released FSR Redstone Ray Regeneration technology alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, so it is possible this is how AMD is now referring to this technology as a whole. That is the theory. In reality, we could not find any reference to FSR 4.1 on any official site.

This version was mentioned by ASRock in a tweet about this tech, claiming it is already supported by RX 9070 XT cards:

Not just graphics — this GPU thinks faster than you do.

With FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 4.1,
experience next-generation ray tracing that delivers hyper-realistic lighting, ultra-clear details, and smoother frame rates. 🎮

Our theory is that someone at ASRock either knows what AMD will soon launch for other games, or this is just a mistake. Their tweet links specifically to the Taiwanese version of their website, and there we can find such notes:

The “4 1 ” is obviously not 4.1, but perhaps someone copied the text, added a dot from the annotation, and created some confusion in ASRock marketing.

In reality, it would make sense for FSR 4 with Redstone RR to be called 4.1. The full update with all four Redstone technologies could then be released as FSR 5. AMD might not want to call it 5 yet because they do not know what to expect from DLSS 5, and they seem to want some level of parity in naming and features.
