Good news, everyone: AMD is not changing naming for the Ryzen mobile series

A new SiSoftware Sandra entry has revealed the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 APU , confirming that AMD will keep the current Ryzen AI naming scheme for its next mobile refresh. The chip is listed with Radeon 890M graphics, 12 cores and 24 threads, and a 5.25 GHz boost clock. That is a 150 MHz bump over the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which uses the same 12-core Zen 5 layout.
The benchmark lists 12×1 MB of L2 cache and 3×16 MB of L3 cache , which matches expectations for a refined Strix Point design rather than a new architecture. Multi-media scores place this sample near the top of Sandra’s database, though this is still only one synthetic result and likely an early configuration.

The test system is identified as an HP EliteBook X G2a 14 inch Notebook Next Gen AI PC , platform string 103C_5336AN HP EliteBook (HP 8EF5). The Sandra page contains Chinese characters in the system description, pointing to HP labs in China as the source of this result. The use of a final product name instead of a generic engineering label suggests this is a launch-ready design.
AMD Ryzen HX 470 is part of the AMD’s “Gorgon Point” family, which first appeared in leaks back in March and was later confirmed by AMD as part of its next FP8 roadmap. Gorgon Point is described as a refresh of Strix Point with Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and XDNA 2 NPUs. The roadmap slide shows Gorgon R9, R7, R5, and R3 parts with up to 55+ TOPS, aimed at premium Copilot+ class laptops.

Based on the timing of this leak, Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 now looks close to launch. We expect AMD to announce the wider Ryzen AI 400 mobile lineup, including Gorgon Point, at CES 2026.
