Dell’s new Pro Max 18 Plus mobile workstation is one of the few laptops that can be configured with up to 256 GB of system memory, thanks to the CAMM2 standard that Dell has been pushing across its high-end systems. The 18-inch model sits at the top of the Pro Max line and pairs Intel Core Ultra HX processors with NVIDIA RTX PRO Blackwell graphics for AI, CAD, and other workstation workloads.
According to Notebookcheck, the Pro Max 18 Plus can be ordered either with standard DDR5 SODIMM or with CAMM2 modules. With two SODIMM slots, the system supports up to 96 GB of dual-channel DDR5-6400 memory, which is in line with other high-end gaming and workstation laptops using traditional modules.
Switching to CAMM2 raises both speed and capacity. A dual-channel CAMM2 configuration supports up to 128 GB at 7200 MT/s, while most SODIMM-based laptops still run between 4800 and 5600 MT/s once capacities reach 64 GB or higher. This gives the Pro Max 18 Plus more memory bandwidth headroom for CPU- and GPU-bound workflows.

For users who need capacity above all else, Dell also offers a 256 GB CAMM2 configuration. This setup runs at 4400 MT/s and operates in single-channel mode, so it trades raw bandwidth for the ability to keep large AI datasets, simulations, or virtual machines in memory at once. Dell’s implementation mounts the CAMM2 module under its own dedicated heatsink to keep the dense memory package under control during long workloads.
