Memtest86+ 8.00 released with DDR5 temperature readout and dark mode

Memtest86+ 8.00 now available

Open source tool for memory testing.

Memtest86+, the free open source memory tester, has been updated to version 8.00, with the new release dated 24 November 2025. The update introduces a single binary image that works on both UEFI and legacy BIOS systems. The project also adds CLang/LLD support on the build side to modernize the toolchain.

The 8.00 changelog lists new support for the latest Intel and AMD CPUs (I couldn’t find the list, but the tool already supports Intel Arrow Lake and AMD Granite Ridge CPUs), faster detection on many core systems, and temperature reporting for DDR5 modules. There is also an optional dark mode, a fix for DDR5 XMP 3.0 handling, improved BadRAM reporting, better SPD detection on older Intel chipsets, refinements for Loongson architectures, and a batch of bug fixes.
