CyberPowerPC cites 500% RAM surge as MAINGEAR warns of deeper memory shortages

CyberPowerPC confirms December 7th system price hike

CyberPowerPC has announced that it will raise prices on all gaming PCs starting December 7th, 2025. In a statement to customers, the company links the move to sharp component cost increases and frames the change as a necessary adjustment rather than a permanent shift in its pricing model.

According to the notice, RAM prices have jumped by 500% and SSD prices have doubled since October 1st, 2025. CyberPowerPC says these swings have had a direct impact on the cost of building systems and that it can no longer absorb the difference. The update is aimed at giving customers advance warning, with the company stressing transparency as the holiday shopping period begins.

In a follow-up message, CyberPowerPC told customers it “will always aim to give you the best value for your gaming PC needs” and described the price increases as temporary . The company says it plans to roll prices back once market conditions improve and component costs normalize. Until then, it claims it will keep looking for ways to maintain competitive configurations rather than cutting corners on hardware quality.

RAM and SSDs make up a large share of the bill of materials for modern gaming rigs, so rapid swings in their pricing can translate into noticeable changes in complete system costs.

Maingear will hold off price hikes for as long as possible

MAINGEAR is reporting similar pressure from the supply side, but is trying to hold the line on pricing for now. In an interview, CEO Wallace Santos said, “ We’ve already seen DRAM prices skyrocket due to the shortages and are holding off those price changes for our customers as long as we can ,” while urging anyone planning a new build or upgrade to take advantage of current deals before they are repriced. MAINGEAR is stockpiling RAM, SSDs and GPUs to keep configurations available through the current sales period, though Santos warns that lead times and prices are likely to rise as allocation tightens. MAINGEAR’s CEO: We’ve already seen DRAM prices skyrocket due to the shortages and are holding off those price changes for our customers as long as we can. For consumers that are interested in getting a new PC or upgrading their current system’s GPU, SSD or RAM, they should consider shopping now and looking for offerings that have not seen price increases yet. MAINGEAR is offering pre-built units for Black Friday right now that were sheltered from these price increases.

We work closely with our suppliers and we’ve been proactively securing inventory so that our customers don’t suddenly see their dream build blocked by a RAM kit during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I anticipate that the prices will continue to rise and then we will eventually have to increase our lead times as stock and allocation becomes constrained, but we are in constant communication with our vendors and will delay these increases for as long as we possibly can.

The two boutique builders are reacting to a wider squeeze that has pushed consumer DRAM prices up by well over 100% year over year, with analysts tying the spike to booming AI data center demand and to NAND makers shifting capacity between SSD and memory production.
