AMD Strix Halo handheld gets price increase before shipments

OneXPlayer has announced that the OneXFly APEX handheld will get a $200 price increase for new Indiegogo backers in 96 hours, citing rising memory and SSD costs. The timing stands out because the Strix Halo based device was only priced for international buyers earlier this month on November 5, and the crowdfunding campaign went live on November 9 with shipments planned around late January 2026. In other words, the handheld is still in crowdfunding and has not shipped to regular backers yet, aside from early samples for reviewers and influencers.
At launch, APEX tiers started at 1,399 USD for the air-cooled Ryzen AI Max 385 model with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, scaling up to 2,239 USD for the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 128 GB RAM and 2 TB storage. Liquid-cooled variants add about 60 USD on top, topping out at 2,299 USD for the full-spec configuration.
OneXPlayer now says all of these configurations will go up by $200 for new backers after the 96-hour window, but the campaign page has not yet been updated with the new tier prices. Existing backers keep their original pledge amounts and the current late January 2026 shipping target remains unchanged.
Important Update:
Due to depleted APEX memory and SSD inventory, along with continued component cost increases, the APEX Indiegogo pricing will be adjusted in 96 hours.
A second price adjustment may also be required if market conditions continue to change.

In a post titled “Important Notice About Upcoming Price Adjustment,” the company explains that its entire stock of memory and SSDs has been consumed by existing APEX orders and that the cost of new components has “risen sharply,” creating pressure on production.
We all know how absurdly expensive OneXPlayer systems are. But they still find their niche among gamers with deeper pockets. We have not seen any proper reviews yet. Most coverage is self-promoted content on their social media, which doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Personally, I’m disappointed that there are so few AMD Strix Halo-based handhelds. The only system that has launched has shipped in small numbers, while the second console gets a price hike before shipment. This will be a lesson for AYANEO, who have not yet released their system. I would be surprised if they found the courage to announce pricing right now.
