Intel Xeon 696X 64-core “Granite Rapids-WS” CPU surfaces in SiSoftware Sandra with 350W TDP and 336MB L3 cache

Intel preparing W890 platform for next-gen Xeon 6 Workstation

Intel’s Xeon 6 Workstation lineup has moved one step closer to launch. A 64-core Xeon 696X has appeared in the SiSoftware Sandra database, backing up earlier W890 “Granite Rapids-WS” leaks and filling in some missing details. This family is Intel’s next step for single-socket workstations, taking over the role once held by Xeon W-3400 and, before that, the Core X high-end desktop CPUs.

The SiSoftware entry lists 64 cores and 128 threads, confirming Hyper-Threading support on the top SKU. The chip reports a 4.4 GHz clock with a 4.51 GHz boost, suggesting final turbo frequencies could land around that range. Cache is split into 64 blocks of 2 MB L2 for 128 MB total , plus 336 MB of shared L3. The listing also tags the CPU with a 350W TDP , which matches the power envelope described for Intel’s W890 workstation platform.

Those figures line up with the previous documentation that placed the Xeon 696X at 2.4 GHz base clock with 336 MB of L3 cache. Worth reminding that Intel has folded its HEDT naming into the Xeon W(orkstation) brand. This SKU will be part of the Xeon 6 (or like some media refer to it as Xeon 600) series.

This CPU will compete with AMD Threadripper and Threadripper PRO models, with the top Threadripper PRO 9995WX offering up to 96 Zen 5 cores, 384 MB of L3 cache, and the same 350 W TDP.
