Insider Claims Samsung Display Departments Reshuffled to Meet Apple's Demands

An extensive reconfiguration of development departments at Samsung Display could be underway, according to an insider report published by The Elec. South Korean industry moles believe that company leadership has adjusted priorities, prompted by increased demands from a VIP client: Apple. Future waves of smartphones, tablets, and VR headsets will require cutting-edge display technology. The Elec article alleges that restructuring efforts started as far back as June (2025), but additional changes are needed in order to meet Apple's next-gen requests. The Cupertino, California-based juggernaut also orders various panels from LG Display, a neighboring arch-rival of Samsung's.

Insiders propose that Samsung's Apple-centric "A Business Team" has "upgraded" its development team. Their lab reportedly specializes in "small and medium display" applications. The Elec claims that necessary changes have: "consolidated previously dispersed functions." A resultant "A-Development Office" seems to be taking on the challenge of readying next-gen OLED units for the rumored iPhone 18 family and mysterious iPhone Fold device. In addition, a supposedly newly-established "M Business Development Team" will be working on "micro displays for extended reality (XR) devices measuring approximately 1 inch." This group is supposedly operating as part of Samsung Display's "Small and Medium Business Division." Interestingly, the company unveiled their Galaxy XR mixed reality headset last month. This Android-powered product is marketed as a cheaper alternative to Apple's premium Vision Pro goggles.
