The Warframe development team has been routinely defying the game's MMO shooter roots lately, offering a slew of updates, like Warframe 1999 , with varied gameplay influences and almost flitting between genres every other update. The Old Peace , the latest update in the series of genre detours is apparently "the most soulslike thing" the game studio has ever made. The Old Peace departs from the gritty setting of Warframe 1999, returning to the game's standard sci-fi look and feel. It will introduce three new gameplay modes, new abilities, enemies, and three new Protoframes, each with their own backstory for players to dig into, and quality of life updates, as usual.
One of the three new game modes will put players in the midst of battle in the past on the Tau moon of Perita for 12-minute battles, with each run giving players fresh objectives. Meanwhile, Descendia, which is inspired by Dante's Inferno, pits players against increasingly difficult challenges as they descend into the Descendia with The Devil's Triad, the three new Protoframes introduced in the update. The Old Peace will also add an entirely new weapon type to the game—the bayonet—alongside an appearance remaster, The Old Peace is a free expansion for Warframe that will launch on December 10.
