AYANEO NEXT 2 handheld pairs Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 9-inch OLED and 115 Wh battery
AYANEO has formally presented its NEXT 2 gaming handheld, shown on stream by company CEO Arthur Zhang. The system is built around AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a Strix Halo APU with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. AYANEO targets a TDP of up to 85 W and uses a dual-fan cooling system with high-density fins to keep the chip in check.

The NEXT 2 features a 9.06 inch 2400×1504 OLED display with HDR support. AYANEO confirmed peak brightness of 1100 nit s and several fixed refresh-rate modes (60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz and 165Hz). This panel matches what we have already seen in the Red Magic Astra gaming tablet, so earlier guesses about panel sharing turned out to be correct. There was no mention of VRR support during the presentation, which fits with current limitations of many OLED handheld panels.

Power comes from a 115 Wh internal battery, which is much larger than the 60–80 Wh packs used in many current handhelds and even exceeds the 99 Wh capacity common in laptops. Some airlines treat batteries above 100 Wh as a special category that needs approval, so travelers will need to check local rules, but AYANEO clearly prioritizes long runtimes over airline-friendly numbers.

Early gameplay demos also suggested that fan noise stays under control, with the NEXT 2 sounding more restrained than the loud AYANEO KUN during similar game tests. The chassis includes two front-facing stereo speakers.

Control hardware receives a full refresh as well. The NEXT 2 offers Hall effect joysticks, Hall linear triggers, dual-mode trigger locks that switch between linear and micro-switch style response, and a floating 8-way D-pad aimed at precise directional input. AYANEO also includes dual smart touchpads, four rear buttons, a custom RGB nameplate, and a new magnetic-levitation haptic motor co-developed with Grain Technology for more defined vibration feedback.
The handheld runs AYANEO’s updated software suite, though pricing and detailed availability were not outlined in the material shown so far.
One thing I wanted to note is that through most of the showcase, the handheld was rarely ‘held by hand’, which I suppose confirms it is quite heavy.
