XFX updates RX 580 GPU 7 years after launch

XFX has published a new BIOS for its Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX Edition 4GB graphics card, almost seven years after the board first appeared in April 2017. The update targets the RX-580P4L3F model, a dual slot card with 2304 stream processors and 4 GB of GDDR5 on a 256-bit bus.
The new firmware arrives long after the RX 580 generation left retail shelves, but the card remains in use in many budget gaming and secondary systems. XFX still lists the GTS XXX Edition 4GB in its legacy catalog with full specifications and support links, which now include the fresh BIOS file.

I do not think there’s any reason to update this BIOS, perhaps it’s an ancient bug being fixed, something that didn’t let one engineer sleep at night for 7 years. But it is a fact that we rarely see updates for such an old card this late.

Sadly, we don’t have any RX 580 cards at hand, definitely not XFX cards, to test what has changed, nor do we think it matters for modern gaming anyway. Still great to see such updates.
