Samsung is often panned by users and critics alike for exercising inertial restraint when it comes to new technology - an operational strategy that is not too disparate from Apple's.

The tech giant, however, seems to have overcome some of its seemingly perennial inertia and appears ready to equip the upcoming Galaxy S26 series with some much-needed, whopper charging upgrades.

Samsung's current OneUI 8.0 firmware pegs a 15W wireless charger with a "fast wireless charging" label, while the regular 5-10W one is pegged with the simple "wireless charging" label.

Now, however, as per the , the OneUI 8.5 firmware update, whose beta version is expected to go live later in December 2025 , contains references to "super fast wireless charging."

This branding appears to confirm recent rumors, which suggest that the base Galaxy S26 and the S26+ will support wireless charging speeds of up to 20W, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will gain support for wireless charging speeds of up to 25W.

Concurrently, the prolific tipster Ice Universe continues to assert that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will bear a 5,000mAh battery, replete with fast charging support of up to 60W.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S26+ will see an , with support for 45W of wired fast charging.

Finally, the base Galaxy S26 is rumored to get a 4,300mAh battery with 25W of wired fast charging support. Do note that the base S25 had a 4,000mAh battery.

Even so, at a time when Chinese OEMs are , Samsung's evident restraint in the battery arena is both predictable and somewhat disappointing.
