Varmilo launches wireless $50 Foot Keyboard for gamers

Foot Keyboard with Cherry MX switches

Varmilo has launched a new Foot Keyboard line, a set of compact mechanical keypads designed to sit on the floor and be controlled with your feet. The series comes in three versions, all aimed at fighting, shooter, and racing games: the FHG03 with three buttons, the FFG04 with four buttons on a single pad, and the FIG04 with four buttons arranged on a larger pedal-style frame. Each Foot Keyboard uses Cherry MX Silent Black switches with a 60 g actuation force, 85 g bottom-out, 1.5 mm actuation point, and 3.5 mm total travel, so the buttons are stiff enough not to trigger by accident when you rest your foot. The housing is a 3D printed PLA shell with a separate base plate, while the large round ABS caps give each button a 25 mm diameter target. Depending on the model, the unit weighs around 1 kg, which should help keep it planted on the floor during use. Varmilo markets the device as suitable for everything from special moves in fighting games to pedals in driving titles.

The Foot Keyboard supports tri mode connectivity: wired USB, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 2.4 GHz dongle, with a physical toggle to switch between them. There is a built in 2500 mAh battery, a claimed response time of 10 ms or less, and a 1000 Hz polling rate on PC. Varmilo’s FK2 web driver lets users remap each button, create macros, and use SOCD handling for simultaneous opposite directional inputs, which is important for some competitive fighting games.

Pricing is one of the main hooks here. Varmilo lists all three Foot Keyboard models at 50 USD on its US store. That undercuts MSI’s Liberator foot pedal, which launched through crowdfunding at 139–159 USD around 4 years ago (I can’t find any info on current offers).

Stock on Varmilo’s store is already marked as sold out, so anyone planning to train their toes may have to wait for the next batch.
