With GTA 6 poised to capture the attention of gamers all over the world, publishers have been scrambling to get their games out before Rockstar Games launches its highly anticipated game . Others, like legendary Japanese creator Suda51, decisively won the chicken race against the gaming behemoth most easily: by never intending to launch Romeo is a Dead Man during GTA 6's previous May 2026 release window.
"Now we've won our game of chicken against *cough* a certain twice-delayed 2026 release, we can reveal our cards and confirm we never intended to launch in May in the first place," Romeo is Dead Executive Director/Scenario Writer/Producer said to celebrate the game's release date announcement, which took place during today's Grasshopper's Direct . The first new IP from the celebrated creator of the No More Heroes series and Shadows of the Damned in a long time will make its debut on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 11, 2026, worldwide.
The Romeo is a Dead Man release date announcement was accompanied by providing a new look at the game, which Suda51 himself confirmed to me in an exclusive interview to have been inspired by Back to the Future , among other things.
During Gamescom 2025, I had the opportunity to try out the game with an exclusive demo, which did an excellent job of showcasing how it is a "Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda51 game through and through." You can learn more about it by checking out my Romeo is a Dead Man hands-on preview .
