Alleged AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU Benchmarks Leak Out: Higher 5.6GHz Clocks With 3D V-Cache

AMD's Ryzen 7 9850X3D has allegedly appeared within Geekbench, showcasing up to 5.6 GHz clocks for the upcoming 3D V-Cache CPU.

AMD is expected to introduce its latest 3D V-Cache CPU, based on the Zen 5 core architecture, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D , soon. We are expecting to hear more about this chip at CES 2026, but recent leaks have been giving us information about what to expect.

Starting with a recap of what to expect, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 3D V-Cache CPU is going to be another 8-core and 16-thread variant with a 120W TDP and 96 MB of L3 cache. The specifications of this chip look very similar to the existing Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU . But the biggest change of this chip will offer faster 5.6 GHz clocks, a 400 MHz increase versus the 9800X3D. This should mark a major performance bump, further boosting the capabilities of AMD's 8-Core 3D V-Cache offerings.

  • Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • 8 Zen 5 Cores
  • 96 MB of Cache (Single X3D CCD)
  • Up To 5.6 GHz Clocks
  • Up To 120W TDP

AMD is also using its 2nd Gen AMD V-Cache technology across all of its brand-new "Zen 5" Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs. This new V-Cache design runs cooler, faster, and supports overclocking. It is possible that the new V-Cache design helped AMD to finally develop a proper "retail" dual-X3D chip .

Coming to today's leak, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D was featured within two benchmark listings at the Geekbench 6 database. These entries are from last month and list the chip as "AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8-Core Processor".

The chip is shown to feature 96 MB of L3 cache (32 MB L3 + 64 MB Stacked 3D V-Cache), and operates at a base clock of 4.70 GHz.

The boost clock is rated at up to 5.6 GHz, and we can see one of the entries on the Colorful CVN B850M Gaming Frozen 14A motherboard indeed boosts it to its specified boost clock, while another only boosts it up to 5.3-5.4 GHz.

Given the recent influx of fake / modified entries at Geekbench, we would advise our readers to take these entries with a grain of salt. The CPU Name identifier shouldn't mention "8-core processor", and these results are also slightly behind the standard Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The memory used here could be the reason, as both entries feature 32 GB of DDR5 clocked at 4800 MT/s. With that said, we will have more news coming soon, and proper benchmarks should follow.
