Colorful and MaxSun now testing AMD’s new 8-core CPU with 3D V-Cache
The new gaming CPU has been spotted on Geekbench.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D has appeared in two new Geekbench 6 entries, this time running on COLORFUL and MaxSun B850 motherboards. The listings show an 8-core, 16-thread Granite Ridge chip with 96 MB of L3 cache and a 4.7 GHz base clock, matching previous leaks for this 3D V-Cache SKU. One result comes from a COLORFUL CVN B850M GAMING FROZEN V14A board, the other from a MAXSUN MS-eSport B850ITX s ystem, both under Windows 11.
On the COLORFUL board, the processor reaches a reported maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz and scores 3439 points in single-core and 17,530 points in multi-core. The MaxSun system tops out at around 5.38 GHz, with 3260 and 16,149 points respectively. Both rigs use 32 GB of DDR5, but only at around 4800 MT/s, which is low for current AM5 platforms and can drag down Geekbench throughput.

These benchmarks come after earlier leaks from shipping manifests that already described a Ryzen 7 9850X3D with 120 W TDP , 8 Zen 5 cores, and 96 MB of cache. At this point the model looks effectively locked in, even if AMD has yet to say anything officially. There is still no public trace of the rumored 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with dual 3D V-Cache, so that part may be kept as a later follow-up if it exists at all.
Performance gains are not there yet, though: AMD’s current 9800X3D sits around 3334 points in single-core and 18,335 points in multi-core, so these new runs are slightly behind in multi-thread and only marginally ahead in single-thread. Early firmware, conservative power limits, and slow memory are the most likely explanations rather than a clear picture of final performance.
Recent months brought plenty of fake or modified benchmark uploads, and these 9850X3D entries are not immune to scrutiny, with the “8-Core Processor” label definitely raising some eyebrows.
