“Tank” updated with AMD Strix Halo, no dGPU

ACEMAGIC is preparing a new top-end model for its cube-style Tank mini PCs. The Tank M1A Pro Plus swaps the Intel CPU and laptop GPU combo used in the current TANK 03 for AMD’s Strix Halo platform. The system is built around the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU with 16 Zen 5 cores and an integrated Radeon 8060S GPU with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. ACEMAGIC has started teasing the system but has not given pricing or a launch date yet.
The company says the Strix Halo Tank will support up to 128 GB of LPDDRx memory at 8000 MT/s and up to 12 TB of SSD storage, likely across multiple M.2 slots. Wireless spec jumps to Wi-Fi 7, and the machine is said to drive up to four displays, in line with other Strix Halo mini PCs announced this year. ACEMAGIC also mentions a three-level adjustment dial for power and noise control, keeping the “ performance knob ” concept from the existing TANK 03 series.

Strix Halo targets users who want desktop-class CPU performance and mid-range GPU performance from a single package. According to ACEMAGIC the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 iGPU trading blows with RTX 3080-class laptop GPUs in some workloads while also offering around 126 TOPS of total AI performance, including a 50 TOPS NPU for local AI tasks. The Tank M1A Pro Plus is set to compete with other Strix Halo mini PCs such as the GMKtec EVO-X2, Geekom A9 Mega, and Bosgame M5, all built around the same APU.
However some buyers should also be aware of ACEMAGIC’s recent history. In early 2024, reviewers found pre-installed malware, including Redline Stealer, on some AceMagic mini PCs such as the AD08, AD15, and S1, which the company later admitted was caused by a modified Windows image used to “optimize” boot times.
