Gigabyte launches X870E AERO X3D WOOD with real wood trim

GIGABYTE announces X870E AERO X3D WOOD premium motherboard for Ryzen AM5 series

GIGABYTE has introduced the X870E AERO X3D WOOD, an AMD Socket AM5 motherboard that combines its new X3D platform with a wood accented design aimed at living room and desk builds that do not look like typical gaming rigs. The board targets Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors and is part of the wider X870E X3D family built around X3D Turbo Mode 2.0 and AI assisted tuning.

The AERO WOOD styling uses a mostly white PCB and heatsinks with light wood pieces along the VRM shroud and M.2 area, plus a leather pull tab on the rear cover for easier access. GIGABYTE positions the board as a match for wood fronted cases and calmer builds, with soft lighting and natural textures instead of heavy RGB.

Under the decor sits a full X870E platform with a digital twin 16+2+2 phase VRM , four DDR5 slots and support for memory overclocking up to 9000 MT/s using the D5 Bionic Corsa AI assisted profiles. There are three full length PCIe slots, including one reinforced PCIe 5.0 x16 UD Slot X for graphics, a second PCIe 5.0 slot running at x8 and a PCIe 4.0 slot at x4. Storage is handled by four M.2 sockets, two of them PCIe 5.0 x4 and two PCIe 4.0 x4, plus four SATA ports. X3D Turbo Mode 2.0 is present and GIGABYTE again claims up to a 25% uplift for Ryzen X3D CPUs in selected games when the feature is enabled.

Cooling and ease of use follow the same template as other X870E X3D boards. The X870E AERO X3D WOOD uses VRM Thermal Armor Advanced with a direct touch heatpipe and high conductivity thermal pads, large M.2 Thermal Guard heatsinks including the M.2 EZ Flex bracket, and a PCB Thermal Plate that GIGABYTE rates as a 14%thermal improvement for the board underside.

Smart Fan 6 fan control, EZ Latch mechanisms for PCIe and M.2, DriverBIOS with a preloaded Wi-Fi driver, WiFi EZ Plug and the usual debug LEDs and rear buttons round out the DIY feature set. Networking and I/O include dual 5 GbE, Wi-Fi 7 with a directional antenna, dual USB4 Type-C with DP Alt mode and HDMI output, plus internal HDMI support for sensor panel style displays.

Australian channel Gear Seekers has already shown the X870E AERO X3D WOOD on YouTube in a roughly 14 minute hands on video, giving builders an early look at the retail board, its layout and finishes ahead of wider availability. The board is starting to appear at retailers, with at least one Polish listing around $500 with tax included, though stock is not yet available.
