Ryzen 7 9850X3D already undergoing tests

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D keeps showing up in new leaks, and its specifications now look consistent across multiple sources. Earlier reports from shipping manifests and AMD’s own driver site already outlined an 8-core, 16-thread Zen 5 “Granite Ridge” part with 96 MB of L3 cache, a 120W TDP and boost clocks up to 5.6 GHz , positioned as a faster variant of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
Current Ryzen 7 9800X3D results in Geekbench still come out ahead in multi-core, so these runs suggest that firmware, power limits, and memory tuning are not yet in a final state rather than defining the new chip’s ceiling. Fresh data from PassMark now gives a second view on performance.

A new entry for AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8-Core (still callled 8-core for some reason) lists a single-thread rating of 4632 points and an overall CPU Mark of 41,840. Based on the same database, analysis points to around 5% higher scores than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and roughly 20% ahead of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in both single- and multi-thread tests.
AMD has not officially announced the Ryzen 7 9850X3D yet, but there are now consistent leaks for specs, motherboards, and performance across two benchmark suites. The processor is expected to debut at CES 2026, possibly alongside a 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with dual X3D dies at the top of the AM5 stack (so far not a single trace of this SKU).
