Onexplayer X1 leak confirms first gaming handheld with “Panther Lake” Core Ultra 5 338H processor

Gaming handhelds with Panther Lake confirmed

Onexplayer confirms to be working on such a device through a pre-release leak.

A new leak points to a new ONEXPLAYER X1 variant built around Intel’s Core Ultra 5 338H , bringing the Panther Lake platform to a handheld for the first time. The CPU information comes from a test device that reports a 12-core chip inside an X1 system, branded as Core Ultra 5 338H. The listing shows a base clock of 1.90 GHz and a current maximum frequency of around 3.68 GHz for this sample. If accurate, this configuration would make the X1 the first gaming handheld seen with a Panther Lake processor.

The CPU report lists two core clusters, one with four cores and a second with eight cores. Separate leaks describe the 338H as a 4P+4E+4 low-power design, still adding up to 12 cores, with boost clocks that can scale to around 4.7 GHz in laptop form.

The handheld entry also shows 64 KB of L1 instruction cache and 32 KB of L1 data cache per core, a 4 MB L2 slice, and 18 MB of shared L3 cache. The CPU supports modern instruction sets including AVX2, AVX-VNNI, VAES and SHA, which helps with AI, emulation and media workloads on a compact device.

While the CPU block is new, the integrated graphics may be just as important for this X1 refresh. Core Ultra 5 338H is tied to an Arc B370 iGPU that uses Intel’s Xe3 architecture with 10 Xe cores and reported boost clocks up to about 2.4 GHz.

Early benchmark leaks put Arc B370 close to AMD’s Radeon 880M in Vulkan tests and well ahead of previous Xe2-based integrated graphics from Lunar Lake.

This Panther Lake X1  handheld would join a family that already covers most current mobile CPU lines from AMD and Intel. The original X1 shipped with AMD Ryzen 7 8840U and Radeon 780M.

X1 Pro models added options for Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with Radeon 890M and Intel Core Ultra H chips, while the recent X1 Air moved to Core Ultra V series. All share a 10.95 inch 2560×1600 LTPS 120 Hz touchscreen and detachable controllers that let the system act as a tablet or small laptop as well as a handheld.

This leak suggests that the same 3-in-1 chassis is now being used to test Panther Lake with Arc B370, setting up the X1 as one of the first gaming devices built around Intel’s next mobile platform.
