Ex-PlayStation London & Guerrilla Devs Working on "Cast Out" - a True Co-op Fantasy Game

Twisted Works, a relatively young UK-based game development studio, has revealed its main project: Cast Out. Last week's announcement arrived as an IGN exclusive, but other news outlets have picked up on familiar clues—harking back to an unnamed and cancelled Sony PlayStation IP. Almost two months into 2024, several first-party UK outfits faced closure , or severe reductions of headcounts. At the time, Sony Interactive Entertainment's restructuring plan resulted in the shuttering of its long-serving London studio. Under two years later, elements of the UK capital city-based team's former "PS5 online game" seem to live on in Cast Out.

Eurogamer pointed out visual similarities between old and new: "it seems that some of the developers' previous work had more than just a small influence on the upcoming release...which bears a striking resemblance to (concept) artwork for London Studio's own cancelled online game, that was to be set in a fantasy version of (London)." Twisted Works formed last summer, established by ex-SIE UK veterans. Their main website lists additional talent being sourced from other well-known entities: Guerrilla Cambridge, Blur Studio, Square Enix (London), Disney Interactive (Brighton), and Creative Assembly (Horsham). Unsurprisingly, Cast Out is lined up for release on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam). An early access beta version could be on track for an early 2027 roll out.
