A paraglider has died after crashing into a hillside in southern Hong Kong, with strong winds sweeping him into the air ahead of take-off.
Police said they received a report at about 2.20pm on Tuesday that a man had been involved in an accident while paragliding at Dragon’s Back in Shek O.
The 68‑year‑old was reported to have embarked on a solo paragliding flight.
According to a hiker’s report to police, the man had been preparing his equipment when his paraglider was suddenly lifted up by strong winds.
He rose about 25 metres (82 feet) above ground, falling near Shek O Peak, around 500 metres from his take‑off point.
The hiker, a 53-year-old man from Denmark, called authorities.
