SilverStone today introduced the WS380-E, a feature-packed workstation case for builds that are heavy both on GPUs and local storage. This tower-type-case is cavernous, measuring 453 mm x 175 mm x 683 mm (HxWxD), and supports motherboards in the SSI-EEB and E-ATX form-factors. The forward region of the case has two detachable 4-bay drive cages with caddies that let you hot-swap 12 Gbps SAS HDDs in the 3.5-inch form-factor.
There are also two 5.25-inch drive bays for optical or tape drives. Between this region and the main chamber with the motherboard tray is a detachable column that can mount up to three 120 mm fans, or a 360 mm radiator. Even with this in place, you get clearance for add-on cards up to 37 cm in length. There are 8 expansion card slots. An external fan module mounted outside the case provides additional ventilation for add-on cards. The case supports 2U redundant and hot-swappable or standard ATX PSU (you can replace a backplane to switch between the two PSU types). Besides the three 120 mm conveyor fans, there are two high airflow 80 mm exhaust fans at the rear. Front-panel I/O includes a 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 type-C, two USB 3.0 type-A, and 3.5 mm headset jacks. While the case uses SECC and plastic in places, its structural and load-bearing bits are made of galvanized steel. The company didn't reveal pricing.
