Crystal Dynamics teases ‘future of Tomb Raider’ reveal at The Game Awards
Crystal Dynamics will show what it calls the “future of Tomb Raider” at The Game Awards 2025 . The reveal was first teased inside The Game Awards Vote Fortnite island and later confirmed by host Geoff Keighley, who wrote that “Lara Croft returns at The Game Awards” with a dedicated segment for the series.
Keighley’s post does not state outright that this is a new game, so it might also connect to Amazon’s live-action Tomb Raider project, which is planned as part of a shared universe spanning TV and games. For PC fans, the most likely focus is the next mainline Tomb Raider that Crystal Dynamics announced during Epic’s State of Unreal 2022 event. At that show the studio confirmed it had “just started” work on a new Tomb Raider built on Unreal Engine 5, moving away from its long-running Foundation engine.

Crystal Dynamics also has a long record of close cooperation with AMD on PC graphics features. Tomb Raider (2013) was the first released game to use AMD’s TressFX Hair technology on PC. That game quickly turned into a standard benchmark in GPU reviews, where sites tested dozens of AMD and NVIDIA cards in its built-in performance run. With that history, the next Tomb Raider is expected to end up in comparison charts again as a showcase for modern PC rendering features.

The franchise has not had any major releases since 2018 (I could swear it wasn’t that long ago). We did get some remastered , though, released last year and this year.
