Mega Man: Dual Override to Revive Capcom’s Blue Bomber in 2027

Capcom has been on a hell of a tear the last few years, but not everybody has been able to join in on the fun. Capcom’s former (still?) mascot Mega Man has been missing in action for nearly a decade, with 2018’s Mega Man 11 being the last core entry in the series. Well, Robot Masters beware, because today at The Game Awards a new entry in the Mega Man series was revealed.

Mega Man: Dual Override looks to deliver exactly what fans of the series are hungry for – good old-fashioned 2D platforming action, done up with crisp, cell-shaded visuals. My palms are already feeling sweaty. The end of the trailer also seems to show the standard Mega Man transforming into a more souped-up version, perhaps hinting at what the “Dual Override” subtitle might mean. Oh, and what was that telltale whistle at the very end of the trailer? Hmmmm! You can get your first peek at Mega Man: Dual Override, below.

Looking for more details? Unfortunately, Capcom is remaining fairly tight-lipped for now. This is all they have to say about the game at the moment…

“Mega Man returns in 2027 with a brand-new entry in the classic action platforming series! Override challenges and blast down legions of robots while springboarding across a new array of futuristic frontiers!”

You can actually have a hand in shaping this next Mega Man, as Capcom is holding a Robot Master contest, where the winner gets to design one of the game's bosses.

Mega Man: Dual Override is coming to PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Switch 2 sometime in 2027.
