OptiScaler enables FSR Frame Gen in games that don’t officially support it yet
Not for RX 7000/6000 users, though.

The AMD FSR software stack, updated with the Redstone release, may not have brought much joy to Radeon RX 7000 or RX 6000 users. Those GPUs were left out of the Redstone update, which is exclusive to the RX 9000 RDNA 4 series. It is not clear if this will change. Keep in mind that FSR Redstone already uses the same FSR 4 technology, so this part is technically already available to pre-RX 9000 GPUs as a semi-official INT8 release.

When it comes to FSR Frame Generation, this is new. It is now powered by a machine learning algorithm, and it does bring visual improvements. Some reviewers argue that it can also introduce frame pacing issues. Regardless, users who want to try it now need to wait for AMD to update its software to let them control whether the feature is enabled in a game. Alternatively, users can try OptiScaler , which enables the feature even if a game has not been updated to the newer FSR 3.1.4 (required for FSR 4).
Reddit user eduhfx shows how this tech works in Monster Hunter Wilds, which uses SDK 3.1.2. Whether developers plan to update their FSR implementation is anyone’s guess, but people who do not want to wait can now force-enable FSR Frame Generation through this third-party tool.
One thing to keep in mind is that, unlike the previous version of Frame Generation, this version only supports the RX 9000 series. Users on older GPUs, or those using other vendors’ cards, may not be able to use it. That could change if modders find a workaround, or if AMD ‘accidentally’ ships the needed files.
The software is available on the official Discord channel as an alpha. This is not a stable release, so if you care about stability, it is better to wait for an official update.
