ASRock posts AGESA 1.2.7.1 BIOS updates with “upcoming CPU” support
ASRock has started publishing new BIOS updates for AM5 motherboards based on AMD AGESA Combo AM5 1.2.7.1. The firmware is showing up on official support pages for several B650 and B850 models. The changelog is short, but it includes “support upcoming CPUs.”
That wording is usually used when vendors are preparing boards for processors that are not announced yet. On AM5, AGESA updates often land well before new retail parts. AMD can also drop interim desktop products, so partners tend to get firmware ready early.
ASRock also appears to have skipped a public 1.2.7.0 release and moved straight to 1.2.7.1. The timing also overlaps with ongoing X3D refresh rumors, including a Ryzen 7 9850X3D and higher tier variants. X3D parts can require specific firmware handling, so early AGESA work would fit. At the same time, ASUS has already posted beta BIOS updates for some X870 and X870E boards that move to AGESA 1.2.8.0, which suggests multiple vendors are lining up for the same wave of support.

For current ASRock users, 1.2.7.1 is more about compatibility than day-to-day performance changes. Early firmware can also bring regressions, and beta builds carry extra risk. If your system is stable and you are not planning a CPU swap soon, waiting for follow-up revisions is the safer path.
AMD is now rumored to be announcing the Ryzen 7 9850X3D and Ryzen 9000G series at CES 2026, which, according to the calendar, is about 4 weeks away from now. AMD has not confirmed it, though.
