When a GPU cooler is not enough

TrashBench has published another unconventional GPU cooling experiment, this time focused on an ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 2060 that can hit 74°C on the GPU core and 92°C on the hotspot in a 10 minute Unigine Heaven run.
The video starts with simple changes to the back of the card. Adding small heatsinks to the backplate drops temps slightly to 73°C core and 90°C hotspot. Removing the backplate changes the result to 69°C core and 91°C hotspot.

Next, the YouTuber tests a bare PCB setup with added heatsinks and a fan, bringing the card down to 64°C core and 82°C hotspot. A basic side fan also helps, landing at 61°C core and 78°C hotspot.

The biggest swing comes from mounting CPU tower coolers onto the graphics card. With one tower cooler, the RTX 2060 drops to 47°C core and 61°C hotspot. With two large CPU towers mounted on both sides, it reaches 43°C core and 57°C hotspot.

TrashBench ran the tests at a reported 27°C ambient, and the final configuration is not designed to fit inside a normal PC case. The point is to show how much heat can be pulled from both sides of a GPU, and how close simpler airflow tweaks can get in practice.
