More signs of Intel Arc “B770”: BMG-G31 spotted in official tooling
Intel’s bigger Battlemage GPU, codenamed BMG-G31 , just showed up again in software. The latest Intel XPU Manager 1.3.5 changelog adds explicit support for it, which suggests the chip is in active testing.
XPU Manager is Intel’s own tool for monitoring and diagnosing GPUs and accelerators, often used in data center or power user setups ( more about the software here ). That makes this a useful signal, because vendors usually do not add device support for hardware that is not real.
The software has just received an update for BMG-G31 device, the changelog only refers to the GPU, not the actual product that will use it. So keep in mind this may refer to data-center/workstation GPU as well.
This update is no surprise, Intel is clearly working on the larger Battlemage GPU, and we have seen plenty of evidence already . On the open-source side, Mesa has been picking up patches to recognize Battlemage IDs and classify a G31 variant. Linux driver trees have also been accumulating new Battlemage PCI device IDs, pointing to at least one higher-tier Battlemage SKU in the pipeline.

Leaks and rumors keep circling the same rough configuration for BMG-G31, and it is a lot larger than the G21 die used in current Arc B5x0 cards like the Arc B580. The common claims include around 32 Xe2 cores , a 256-bit memory bus , and 16 GB or more of GDDR6 . Some chatter even puts board power near 300W for higher-binned desktop models. If those specs land close to reality, this is the kind of part that could aim at 1440p gaming at higher settings, assuming Intel’s drivers are ready.
A larger die usually means tougher yields and higher per-chip pricing pressure, and that problem gets worse when graphics memory supply is tight and prices swing. There is also still a question of positioning, since BMG-G31 could end up in a consumer Arc card, an Arc Pro card, or both.
