When Lenovo launched the Legion Go S with SteamOS, one of the first questions that popped up was whether the hardware maker would launch the more powerful Legion Go 2 with Valve's Linux-based OS as well. The previous assumption was that Lenovo would keep the Legion Go 2 as a Windows-first gaming handheld—of course, you can install SteamOS or Bazzite on it without much fuss—but, according to a new report by Windows Latest , Lenovo is planning to launch a SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2 in 2026.

Supposedly, the new SteamOS handheld will be shown off at CES 2026, although there is no word on when the new handheld will become commercially available or if gamers will have to pay extra for the SteamOS version. The Legion Go 2 was largely praised for its improved performance better and larger OLED display, more comfortable ergonomics, and longer battery life, and the addition of SteamOS will add a more console-like UI to those performance and ergonomics gains. It also presents a more powerful alternative to the Steam Deck and could help Valve compete against the new Xbox full-screen experience .
