Sapphire launches PURE X870A motherboard, its first X870-based high-end board

Sapphire launches first high-end motherboard

Sapphire’s first AMD X870 motherboard appears to be the PURE X870A WiFi 7, with a full spec breakdown now circulating in product slides. Sapphire still has not published a press release for the board, and there is no official pricing yet.

The PURE X870A leans hard into a white and silver look, down to the heatsinks and shrouds. It looks like a deliberate match for Sapphire’s RX 9070 PURE series, aimed at all-white builds.

On the platform side, this is a standard AM5 board with support listed for Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series desktop CPUs. Sapphire also calls out dual 8-pin CPU power and a 16+2+1 power stage layout, which suggests it is built with higher-draw Ryzen parts in mind.

Connectivity and expansion are where the specs get clearer. The board lists a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for a graphics card, backed by a second x16-length slot wired for PCIe 4.0 x4, plus a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. Storage includes three M.2 slots total, one PCIe 5.0 M.2 and two PCIe 4.0 M.2, alongside four SATA ports.

Rear I/O includes DisplayPort and HDMI, plus USB4 Type-C rated at 40Gbps with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15W power delivery. USB headers include a front Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen2), a USB 3.2 Gen1 header for two front USB-A ports, and two USB 2.0 headers for four more front USB-A ports.

Networking is handled by Realtek 2.5GbE, paired with an M.2 WiFi 7 module that lists 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz support, plus Bluetooth 5.4. Audio is Realtek ALC897 with 7.1-channel output, and Sapphire’s slides also mention onboard audio shielding.

Sapphire has also shown an X870 NITRO+ board, and both models were shown at Computex 2025. For now, PURE X870A WiFi 7 is the one with the detailed spec disclosure, but timing and pricing still look unconfirmed.
