RTX 5060 Ti 16GB could face a production pause as GDDR7 supply tightens

Rumor claims GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB could see a temporary production pause amid memory cost pressure

A new rumor claims NVIDIA may temporarily stop producing the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB . The claim is tied to rising memory chip prices and tighter supply. The same rumor says board partners could keep the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB as the main midrange options. It also suggests the GeForce RTX 5070 would cover the space the 16GB model used to occupy. That would push buyers toward a higher price tier if they want more VRAM.

The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is also a costly design to build when memory prices rise. To reach 16GB on a 128-bit bus, it uses eight GDDR7 memory packages, split across both sides of the PCB. That chip count is close to what you see on higher-tier cards, but the 5060 Ti segment has less room for cost increases. For reference: the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB uses four memory packages, while the RTX 5070 uses six for 12GB.

This rumor lines up with separate supply-cut talk around the GeForce RTX 50 series. Reports tied to Board Channels claim overall RTX 50 supply in H1 2026 could be down 30% to 40% year over year, driven by memory constraints.

Benchlife is also cited as saying the first models to see allocation changes would be the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. None of this is confirmed by NVIDIA, so it should be treated as a rumor until partners start reflecting it in shipments and listings.
