CES 2026: LG Display brings 27-inch 4K OLED panel with 240Hz refresh and RGB stripe layout

LG Display says it will debut a 27-inch 4K OLED monitor panel at CES 2026 with an RGB stripe subpixel layout and a 240Hz refresh rate. The company plans to show it at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, which runs January 6 to 9, 2026.

The RGB stripe layout places red, green, and blue subpixels in a straight line. LG Display says this can reduce color fringing and improve close-up clarity, including text. The company adds that earlier RGB stripe OLED panels for monitors were typically limited to about 60Hz.

LG Display’s new panel is the first in the world to achieve a 240Hz refresh rate while maintaining an RGB stripe structure. It incorporates the company’s specialized Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, allowing users to directly switch between high-resolution (UHD 240Hz) and high-refresh-rate (FHD 480Hz) modes.

For refresh-rate flexibility, the panel uses LG Display’s Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) dual-mode feature. That lets users switch between UHD at 240Hz and FHD at 480Hz, depending on whether they want resolution or refresh rate. LG Display also lists a 160 ppi pixel density for the 27-inch 4K panel.

Stripe subpixel will make text clearer

A display pixel is made of smaller red, green, and blue “subpixels,” and the way those subpixels are laid out matters because text rendering often assumes a predictable pattern. In an RGB stripe layout, the subpixels are arranged in straight, repeating lines, typically R, then G, then B, which makes it easier for operating systems and font engines to place edges cleanly with minimal color fringing.

LG Display says it will roll out the new pixel structure first in high-end gaming and professional monitor panels. It also says current high-end gaming OLED monitor panels often use RGWB layouts or triangular RGB patterns, and that it is targeting the high-end monitor segment with its OLED monitor panel output.

In a triangular layout, the subpixels are staggered instead of forming straight stripes, so the edge of a letter may land more on one color than another and you can see colored outlines on fine text. Early QD-OLED panels were often described as diamond-shaped because each subpixel looked like a tilted diamond, which made the non-stripe geometry more obvious, later versions moved toward more square or rectangular subpixel shapes with higher fill, which can reduce the visibility of fringing, but the layout is still staggered rather than a true stripe.

The Stripe RGB layout should look like a traditional LCD-style layout. As a result text should be much sharper.
