AMD EXPO 1.20 Appears in HWiNFO beta, hinting at updated memory OC profiles

AMD EXPO 1.2 spotted, is AMD preparing an update for its memory OC profiles?

HWiNFO’s pre-release notes for v8.35 (Build 5890) Beta add one line that will get attention on AM5 systems: “Added AMD EXPO 1.20 support.”

That entry is not explained. It does not mention a new AMD document, a motherboard BIOS requirement, or any specific CPU generation. For now, it is just a tooling-side change in HWiNFO.

The safest read is that HWiNFO can now correctly parse and display a new EXPO revision field from DDR5 module data. EXPO profiles include identification and versioning fields as part of how the profile is stored on the module.

Could it be tied to existing socket AM5 platforms, upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D parts, or even Zen 6? Maybe, but there is no way to prove that from this changelog line. If anything, it suggests new memory kits, new SPD layouts, or new platform telemetry are starting to show up, and HWiNFO needed an update to read them cleanly.

My guess is that this is a minor EXPO 1.0 revision. That would explain why it shows up as 1.20 instead of 2.0, and the change could be as simple as added telemetry fields that tools like HWiNFO need to read.
