Redditor claims two Samsung 9100 PRO SSDs arrived as two full boxes of SSDs worth $6K

Amazon buyer says they received two boxes of Samsung 9100 PRO SSDs instead of two drives

A Reddit user claims they ordered two Samsung 9100 PRO SSDs on Amazon and got “two boxes” of drives, not two individual units.

The Redditor says the extra hardware adds up to “like 6k worth of ssd” in their estimate, and they are debating whether to sell some or build an all SSD NAS. They also claim Amazon support told them they can keep the shipment.

We cannot verify the order details, and it could still be a joke post. Based on the screenshots and replies shared in the thread, we did not see anything that clearly points to it being staged.

For context, Samsung lists the 9100 PRO as a PCIe 5.0 x4, NVMe 2.0 M.2 2280 SSD, with sequential speeds up to 14,800 MB/s read and 13,400 MB/s write (capacity dependent).

It also would not be the first time people have reported Amazon pick and pack mistakes involving Samsung SSDs. In June 2025, a Reddit post claimed a buyer ordered one 2TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus and allegedly received a box containing nine drives.

There are also older Reddit reports of a case pack showing up for SATA models, including a homelab post that says an order for a single Samsung 870 EVO 500GB arrived as a case of ten.

So yes, take this with a grain of salt, but given the past slips from Amazon, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true.
