Framework announced another DDR5 price hike, encourages users to ‘bring their own RAM’

Framework has made another adjustment to its DDR5 module pricing, citing supplier costs that are now about 3 to 5 times higher than a year ago. The company says most capacities now land at about $10 per GB.
This is the second increase in December. Earlier in the month, Framework raised DDR5 pricing on DIY Edition orders by about 50%, and said more changes were likely if costs kept moving.
Our new pricing is as close as we can get to passing through our actual purchase costs for modules from our suppliers and distributors, which means we're absorbing a lot of the cost increase. We have the full detail in our blog post here: https://t.co/x7Lzp5vx34

Framework is describing the inputs, updating pricing in steps, and framing it as pass-through pricing rather than using the spike as an excuse to widen margins. It also repeats the comparison to Apple’s $25 per GB, even after this latest change.
The company is also leaning into the benefit of its DIY approach. It tells customers to bring their own memory if they can find a better deal, and says it is working on adding a direct link to PCPartPicker’s DDR5 listings in the configurator. It also points buyers to its compatibility guidance in the knowledge base.
Still, 2026 is shaping up to be rough for upgraders. Framework says suppliers expect memory pricing to keep rising into early 2026, and it warns that desktop and pre-built pricing may need changes within the next few weeks.
