LG goes all in into 5K resolution
LG is rolling out a new gaming monitor label called UltraGear evo, and it is bringing 5K-class panels to CES 2026. The headliner is a 39-inch 5K2K OLED model that leans hard into resolution, then tries to make lower-res content look sharper with on-device AI processing.
The 39-inch UltraGear evo GX9 (39GX950B) is a 21:9 ultrawide with a 1500R curve and 5K2K resolution. LG says its on-device “5K AI Upscaling” analyzes and improves content before it hits the panel, aiming for 5K-class clarity without extra GPU load. The monitor also adds AI Scene Optimization and AI Sound as part of the same on-device package.

On the performance side, the 39GX950B uses a Dual Mode setup: 165Hz at 5K2K, or 330Hz at WFHD, with a claimed 0.03ms (GtG) response time. LG also lists 142 PPI and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, plus its “Primary RGB Tandem OLED” panel tech for brightness, color accuracy, and panel life.
If you want 5K in a smaller size, LG is also pushing the 27-inch UltraGear evo GM9 (27GM950B) . It is a 5K MiniLED display with 2,304 local dimming zones and a design focused on reducing blooming, using what LG calls “Zero Optical Distance” engineering. It also gets the same on-device AI features as the 39-inch model, plus Dual Mode (165Hz at 5K, or 330Hz at QHD) and a claimed 1ms (GtG) response time, alongside VESA DisplayHDR 1000 and up to 1,250 nits peak brightness.

There is also a 52-inch 5K2K option (52G930B) with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1000R curve, but LG’s AI feature list is limited to the 39GX950B and 27GM950B.

LG says it will demo the UltraGear evo lineup at CES 2026, including a “Dream Setup” zone inspired by Reddit gaming setups and a SimCraft-powered racing area built around the 39GX950B. LG also plans to start global sales for the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B) on CES opening day, a 27-inch QHD OLED model rated for 540Hz, with a 720Hz mode at 720p.
