Zephyr still covering AMD Radeon RX 6900/6800 GPU bulging and cracking issues: 1% chance failure each year

Zephyr explains Navi 2X GPU RMAs

Chinese Zephyr has posted photos of trays filled with failed AMD RDNA 2 Navi 21 GPU dies, saying it will process RMAs even when the core is dead or physically damaged. The brand’s RMA manager claims they have replaced cores for RX 6800 and RX 6900 XT cards even in cases tied to “bulging,” short circuits, or cracking.

In the statement, Zephyr acknowledges complaints about its after-sales handling, but says it has not denied warranty coverage due to a defective GPU core. It also says failed core cases arrive daily, and that the dead cores shown are kept in its warehouse.

Zephyr even mentions a plan to turn some defective cores into giveaway souvenirs. The post also includes a line claiming there is a “1% chance” of this type of failure happening each year, based on its service experience.

Dead and cracked Navi 21 reports are not new, since repair shops in Europe flagged waves of RX 6800 and RX 6900 failures back in 2023. What stands out here is a GPU brand publicly pointing at the same set of failure modes, and tying them to warranty handling.

What’s missing in other reports, though, is that Zephyr is not listed on AMD’s official AIB partner list , and AMD’s own warranty contact page does not include the brand. Zephyr’s catalog also includes older Radeon products like RX 6900 XT (Navi 21) and RX 6600 (Navi 23) on its site, which suggests it sources parts outside the official channels.
