Dell Alienware PC gets confirmation on AMD unannounced CPU option

Dell has published a press release confirming an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU option for its recently updated Alienware Area-51 desktop gaming PCs. From what we can tell, the release went live early, ahead of CES 2026.
Area-51 returned as Alienware’s flagship full-tower in its current design, built around an 80-liter chassis and a shift toward standard, serviceable parts. Announced last month, this AMD refresh builds on the Area-51 platform that already ships with Ryzen 9000X3D options, including Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D configurations. Alienware also pairs these systems with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics in its current listings.
The new item in the press release is the Ryzen 7 9850X3D option , which is listed for early 2026 availability. Offiically the Area-51 desktop with Ryzen 7 9850X3D is slated for February 2026.

AMD has already referenced the Ryzen 7 9850X3D on its official website, even though retail availability and full positioning are still unfolding ahead of CES. What’s missing from Dell’s PR is any mention of the 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. Dell may not be planning to offer this CPU in its gaming systems. It could arrive later, or it may not be part of the lineup at all.
