ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte now receiving Samsung 34-inch QD-OLED panels with V-Stripe subpixel layout

Samsung Display says it has started full-scale supply of a 34-inch QD-OLED panel that combines a 21:9 ultra-wide format with a 360Hz refresh rate. The company says mass production began in December 2025, and panels are now being shipped to seven monitor makers, including ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte.
The new panel uses what Samsung Display calls a “V-Stripe” pixel structure. Earlier QD-OLED panels arranged RGB sub-pixels in a triangular layout, while V-Stripe places the RGB sub-pixels in vertical stripes. Samsung Display says the change targets clearer character edges and better text readability for tasks like document work, coding, and content creation. It also highlights a 1,300-nit peak brightness claim alongside the high refresh rate.
Samsung Display also points to challenges tied to 21:9 and high refresh rates. It says ultra-wide formats raise horizontal pixel counts and processing load versus 16:9, which can increase power and heat. The company also notes that keeping signal timing uniform across the panel is a known difficulty at high refresh rates.

A Samsung Display official said key production hurdles include organic material lifespan, heat, and brightness. The company says its QD-OLED top-emitting approach helps on brightness, and that material efficiency and design work enabled the four-way combo of V-Stripe, ultra-wide, 360Hz, and high peak brightness. In the same announcement, Jeong Yong-wook, a managing director at Samsung Display, said the company plans to keep pushing QD-OLED tech for high-end monitors.
The V-Stripe QD-OLED monitors are expected to show up publicly at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Samsung Display says ASUS and MSI plan to unveil monitors using the panel at the show, while Samsung Display will also present the panel in a private suite at the Wynn during CES.
