LG introduces 2026 LG Gram lineup: Gram Pro 17 to be world’s lightest 17-inch RTX laptop

LG gram 2026 adds Aerominum chassis and dual AI, with RTX 5050 gram Pro 17 teased for North America

LG Electronics says it will unveil its 2026 LG gram laptop lineup at CES 2026, with a new chassis material called Aerominum and a “dual AI” setup that mixes on-device and cloud features (so no, it’s not CPU/GPU or even GPU/dedicated AI compute).

Aerominum is described as an LG-developed composition that cuts weight while improving structural strength. LG also says the chassis is built for better scratch resistance and to meet military-grade durability standards, with a metallic finish created through an “aeroplate” structure and brushed surface treatment. This material allowed LG develop a “world’s lightest 17-inch RTX laptop”, but don’t get your hopes up – it’s just RTX 5050.

For the few enthusiasts who actually care about AI, select models will support Microsoft Copilot+ PC and LG’s gram chat On-Device AI. LG says gram chat uses an upgraded EXAONE 3.5 small language model, aimed at local, offline assistance for tasks that users may want to keep on the device.

17Z90UR and 16Z90U laptops

Two models get early details. The LG gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) pairs a 17-inch 2560 x 1600 LCD with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 Laptop GPU and 8GB of GDDR7 memory, and LG claims it matches the footprint of many 16-inch systems; LG also says this SKU will be exclusive to North America.

The LG gram Pro 16 (16Z90U) uses a 16-inch 2880 x 1800 OLED display, Intel Core Ultra processors, and the same dual AI focus in a lighter 16-inch class design. Since the CPU was not named, these are Core Ultra 300 laptops almost certainly.

LG is also updating connectivity and security features. The refreshed gram Link is advertised as a cross-device hub for file sharing, screen mirroring, and content transfer across Android and iOS devices, plus webOS-based LG hardware such as TVs, monitors, and projectors. LG ThinQ is listed as a remote security option, with support for locking or erasing the PC if it is lost.

Full specs are to be published next week.
