Corsair cancels users $3499 PC order, then rises the price by $800

Corsair cancels user’s PC order, then relists it $800 higher

A Reddit user claims Corsair canceled his order for a VENGEANCE a5100 without providing a reason, then immediately raised the system’s price when he tried to reorder.

Redditor says he placed the order yesterday as a New Year’s gift and received an invoice at checkout, which he took as confirmation that the purchase was locked in. When he checked his email the next day, he found a cancellation notice . He then attempted to buy the same prebuilt again and saw the listed price jump from $3,499 to $4,299.

The user believes the cancellation was tied to the price change. Corsair has not publicly addressed the specific complaint, and the post does not include a stated reason from the company.

Depending on where the PC was purchased and which terms were accepted at checkout, canceling a paid order and relisting at a higher price may raise consumer protection questions. Some stores also include clauses that allow cancellations due to inventory, pricing errors, or verification issues, which can limit what a buyer can do. Such rules are not always allowed per country’s law.

It also reinforces a common point with prebuilts: brands like Corsair tend to charge a premium versus a similar DIY parts list, if the buyer is comfortable assembling a PC. In this case, the user says the system went from $3,499 to $4,299, a $800 increase. Not to mention the Ryzen 9 9900X3D is neither a good all-around CPU, nor a good gaming CPU. If I were to make a recommendation, just wait for the 9800X3D to get cheaper, or wait for 9850X3D to drop, chances are it will drop just as much as this 9900X3D.
